I'm considering maybe picking this up as well because I'm a sucker for Ellis, (even though his non-Nextwave Marvel work has never ever connected for me) but I kind of want to see what the consensus is on it before I plop $4 down.
This is what I'll be grabbing tomorrow!

DC: (So very excited!)
Flashpoint #5
Justice League #1

Marvel: (Lot's of Spidey tie-ins this week!)
Amazing Spider-Man #668
Amazing Spider-Man: Infested #1
Fear Itself: The Deep #3
Herc #.1
Secret Avengers #16
Spider-Island: Deadly Hands of Kung Fu #1
Ultimate Comics Hawkeye #1

Image Comics: (KIRKMAN!)
Invincible #82
Flashpoint #5 (hahahaha oh god)
Amazing Spider-Man #668
Fear Itself: The Deep #3 (this series is really disappointing me personally, other opinions?)
Herc #.1
Journey Into Mystery #.1
Incredible Hulks #635
Spider-Island: Deadly Hands of Kung Fu #1
Uncanny X-force #14
So, who won the week? My pick would have to be Uncanny X-Force, with an honorable mention going to the pretty dang excellent Secret Avengers. It's seriously like Global Frequency and Nextwave had a baby. But man, OpeƱa on Uncanny X-Force is just an unstoppable thing of beauty.
Too early to start talking about next Wednesday? lol, Tough!

Definitively Getting:
Little Lulu Giant Size Vol. 4
Action Comics #1

Maybe Getting:
Animal Man #1
Batgirl #1
Stormwatch #1
This was my list for this week...

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #668
FLASHPOINT #5 (OF 5)
INCREDIBLE HULKS #635
INVINCIBLE #82
JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #626.1
JUSTICE LEAGUE COMBO PACK #1
MIGHTY THOR #5
ROCKETEER ADVENTURES #4 (OF 4)
SAVAGE DRAGON #173
SPIDER-ISLAND DEADLY HANDS OF KUNG FU #1 (OF 3)
ULTIMATE COMICS HAWKEYE #1 (OF 4)
UNCANNY X-FORCE #14

But I didn't end up buying any of it because the store owner's assertion that he didn't want to do anything to support digital comics just left me in a sour mood.

The only thing I did buy was the new issue of Captain America & Bucky from last week.

I know it's only two issues in, but I think that series may seriously be my favorite thing being published right now.. unless I'm forgetting something. Am I forgetting something?
Man this week was tough. X-Force was fantastic, but I think Secret Avengers just topped it. But I'm a sucker for done-in-one stories. I'm also a sucker for Hank McCoy done well.

And I've been loving Uncanny X-Force so far. There was that slump around #9-#10, but I personally really enjoyed Mark Brooks' stint on the Dark Angel Saga. Oh and how good was Deathlok's deadpan? "We did not have a party."

It's also worth noting that Invincible #82 was a return to form after the last few issues being god awful. Kirkman continues to butcher Atom Eve's character (It's not the weight gain, it's the way he's treating her, but I could write a whole essay on that), but the story was good, Robot/Rex returned and the art was back to top quality after the awful inks on the last few issues.

But my favourite purchase for the week was Batman: Mad Love.

I'd read that essay.

I too would read said essay.

I agree on your thoughts on this week's Invincible it is starting to return back to being good again. I think the Viltrumite War might have burnt Kirkman out a bit. The past few issues just seem to be padding until he decides to start up the next arc big.

Apart from Justice League #1 I would say that Secret Avengers #16 and Amazing Spider-Man #668 were also both good reads.

Well looks like I'll just have to write it then. I'll let you know when it's up.
Does anyone else feel like we're being spoiled with great comics lately? Feels like lately there's almost too much each week. Especially on Marvel's end, I don't remember the last time they had an off week. Everyone's talking about DC lately, and understandably, but I think there's a lot to be said about how well Marvel have been running things lately. There's an abundance of quality books out there, and their "architects" are Fraction, Aaron, Brubaker, Bendis and Hickman, for christ sake. They're really doing a lot of things right lately, and this is coming from a guy that loves to criticize Marvel's methods.
