Agreed. Though Lois' ex, who I will refer to as Mustache Man, seemed to be the weakest part of that issue.

You wanna know who else had a second issue that was better than the already-impressive first issue? OMAC, that's who.
That's Metallo! Or he's going to be. I love metallo. I love idea of the man with a kryptonite heart who can't feel anything. It's very Oz. And i love those images of him ripping open his fake flesh to reveal the krytonite, the symbol of death of hope, a pervsion of the image of superman ripping open his shirt to to show a symbol of hope.I love when superman fights robots. I love morrison using more of superman's villains. I love Action comics.
I get that it's Metallo, I just thought that whole subplot and his characterization were a little wobbly.
Yeah, I hate to say this, but I really didn't care for Action Comics #2. Rags Morales' one issue grace period is over and now that painfully mediocre art with a dose of googly eyes has got to go. I think that is what's really dragging this book down, and it makes me think of that Morrison quote on art in comics. The real dealbreaker was the Metallo stuff, I read Superman: Secret Origin and this exact same story was told in that book, and although I'm sure Morrison could probably tell it better than Johns, I really don't want to read it again.

I loved that one page sequence of Supes in the elevator, saying hi to Lois, then leaping out of the building. I wish his entire escape was just that and we got to have some fun in the rest of the book.

Oh and the concept sketches of Krypton by Gene Ha looked pretty great, I'm excited for that.
I feel that Bryant's art suffered from having the same colors as Morales. When they're both put up next to each other colored the same, Morales looks neater, if that makes sense. It's not that Bryant's bad, it's that his art and Morales are too different to be colored the same.

I was watching the first season of the Timm Superman animated series and I don't really care for the idea that Lois dated Lex before Superman arrived (I sure the series wasn't the first to use this, but it's the only that comes to mind). I kinda like giving that angle to Corben, unless it becomes his defining thing.

OMAC improved so much for me. I hope Giffen is still able to do it after he takes over Superman and Green Arrow.
Is anyone bothered that a big part of both issues of Swamp Thing has been Alec Holland talking to someone? And it looks like it'll continue in the third issue? (I mean, we're going to learn what Abby has been doing and why she's trying to kill Alec).

I'm not really bothered by it. Although I had never read an issue of Swamp Thing before, so I could use the info.

YES. I AM BOTHERED. Poor Yanick Paquette, having to take this boring-ass exposition-fest and make it look interesting.

I hadn't read any Swamp Thing before this either, but I still wish Snyder was more succinct. The conversations are the only thing keeping this from being excellent. It's still pretty good concept and art-wise.

I'd bet part of the reason the editors or whoever keep pairing him with excellent artist is that they hope it'll convince him to write less.
ANDY KUBERT TO "ACTION COMICS" IN JANUARY

Not quite the reprieve from Rags Morales I was hoping for, but still, at least we get two good looking issues.
