Thought I'd start a thread in which you can ask about a certain title/trade and people can yell at you to either steer clear or to hop-on-pop faster than Catwoman after a house fire.
And to start, I'm going to propose the Popgun...
I have literally been flirting with these suckers for three years(ish) and always chicken out.
So please tell me, am I missing a fantastic collection of wondrous comic joy, or is my flight instinct kicking in at the proper moment?
I'm new to Love and Rockets, are the Palomar stories a good place to start?

Fantagraphics has a perfect guide to answer
just this question.
Wow, good thing my library has the hardcovers.(Except for the Luba HC, and they only have the 3rd volume of that series in TP. Dang.)
Oh, and what do you mean by "the Popgun", MP?
I have been in a super hero deconstruction as of late, and I read a quartet of books that should be checked out. End League, Black Summer, and SuperGods. I did get around to reading Last Days of American Crime, and it was meh.

I liked Black Summer until the very end, with the tape. It totally destroyed the sense of uncertainty with regards to the facts, where there's this great sense of 'has he gone crazy, or is he right and that whole powers fuck up your brain thing is a ploy, or maybe a little of both?' I left unsatisfied.
Also, Popgun sounds like it'd be awesome.
I've read vol 1 of Popgun and it is pretty much a 'mix tape' of comic stories. Not everything will be exactly to your taste and some stories you might hate but there's so much variety in there you're bound to find something you like or even love.

If you liked black summer and supergod you should check out No Hero (also by warren ellis). in fact i think i remember him intending those three as some kind of trilogy or something. anyways right now i am re-reading tony bedards Route 666 and it is pretty awesome. as the post i made yesterday says i am in mad fanboy love with jonathan hickman and cant get enough of everything he writes. the man is a genius, and in my opinion him and jason aaron are good enough that their names will be mentioned with grant morrison, garth ennis, allen moore and warren ellis and the like. The Nightly News remains my favorite but Red Mass For Mars, Fantastic Four and Future Foundation both, The Red Wing...basically i cant e-fellate the dude enough lol.
umm as far as other new stuff...I have been enjoying the hell out of kick ass 2, The Unwritten is as good as everything mike carey does, and hellboy: the fury has given me the desire to go back and catch up on the last few years of hellboy that i have missed.
hope this helped!
If you're not currently reading All Star Western or Daredevil, you need to get on that.
