Can I just watch this movie right now, please?

I'm so in for this movie. Just don't know if I'm going to take the boys this weekend.

I keep telling my friends one thing over and over whenever I see a trailer or billboard for this movie. Murder Gorillas.

I wanted to hate this SO HARD, but every day I get a little more excited for it. Damn you, Disney!

Man, that was completely different than what I thought this movie was. Not sure how I feel about it.

Mind you, from what I understand, this is the only 10 minutes of the movie that take place on Earth. After this, it's wall-to-wall Mars.

It might be that I'm not really following the promotion for the movie, but I wasn't expecting it to be that enjoyable. I'm not sure why, but I wasn't excited for this despite Stanton being the director.

The promotion would not have helped. It has been mismanaged.

I'm elbow-deep in A Princess of Mars, which the film is based on, and boy oh boy, there is a reason this is a classic of science-fiction adventure. There would be no Star Wars, no Flash Gordon, no Avatar or whatever else without John Carter. This is the Ur-artifact and the real deal. Plus, Andrew Stanton is the man. Mark my words: this movie is going to rule very hard.
Almost every Hollywood trade paper had said the same thing. There are a lot of factors: Mars Needs Moms bombed, so "of Mars" was removed from the title, leaving you with the generic "John Carter", and the Civil War angle has been played down thanks to Cowboys & Aliens tanking hard. Plus, it was greenlit by a very unpopular executive, so there's rumblings that people inside Disney itself are working to make sure this film fails.
This fan-made trailer describes the film best, I think:
