I'm sure those shorts are going to be for the DC Nation block (or whatever they're going to call it) Cartoon Network is planning and I could not be more excited for them.
At first I thought, "Oh, gun-toting Alfred.. awesome!" But then I thought, "Wait, doesn't Batman hate guns?"
Regardless, the smart money is on this show being pretty great if DC/Warner Animation's track record is to be trusted... and it is.
So excited for Doom Patrol. That's going to be so badass, my brain doesn't even know how to properly digest that information.
Beware the Batman, however... I do kinda like the style they have going on for Batman himself, but Alfred with guns? Really? And if you're going to go with a female Robin-replacement, why not one of the actual female Robins? Also I'm still not sold on this CGI thing; it's worked with Clone Wars well enough, but that's straight up sci-fi. Same for Green Lantern. This is Earth, and one of the few superheroes without powers--they can't make the argument that they need the CGI for whatever special effects they have planned, which is the usual justification for not using 'traditional' animation. Sigh, I'm thinking way too much about this. It's fucking BATMAN, for fuck's sake, and if it's not awesome from the get-go, it'll get there eventually (a la The Batman).
And who am I kidding, the Plastic Man and Doom Patrol, come the demon Etrigan. shorts are going to make up for anything else they air. Damn, it feels good to be a nerd.
Yeah, so just found out that every episode of Batman TAS, and the whole first season of BATB are available online in Russian. I know how I'll be 'studying' for the next all the time... Ура!!!!!

Batman may hate guns, but it's been pretty well established that Alfred a) is essentially James Bond (or at least was, before retiring to a quiet life of buttling) and b) can totally out-stubborn Batman.
