Major Bummer is pretty rad.

next week, I don't seem to have anything but the new Daredevil to pick up.

Pull-list for the week!

Daredevil #4 - This book is the bee's knees. And it'll be even bee's knees-ier with Marcos Martin on art.

Dark Horse Presents #4 - Yeah, it's $8 and it's an anthology, but with the line-up of talent on this book, I think it's worth it to support this. Plus, look at that Darrow variant cover.

Fear Itself: Fearsome Four #4 of 4 - Ugh. This has been terrible, but whatever. That's what I get for breaking my "No Crossover Tie-Ins" rule. Fool me once…

Hulk #41 - Didn't this just come out? I mean, I'm not complaining because it's consistently great and also $2.99, but it seems like this book ships every three weeks lately. Am I crazy?

The Red Wing #3 of 4 - Really loving this miniseries from Jonathan Hickman and Nick Pitarra.

Thunderbolts #163.1 - Another T-bolts Point One issue? Again, not complaining because this is the best team book out there, but man, come on. And can we break up the Jeff Parker books so they don't both drop the same week every few weeks? Please?

Ultimate Comics: Hawkeye #2 of 4 - If this was an ongoing, I probably wouldn't have bothered, but as it's a miniseries and it's Hickman and it's Ultimates/Authority-esque, so here we are.

Vengeance #3 of 6 - Oh hey, it's one of those books full of new characters and interesting takes on established ones. You know, the kind people always say they want out if Big Two cape comics but then never actually buy? Joe Casey and Nick Dragotta are doing some really amazing here, so if you're not on this, get on this, if only so we can have more of this kind of stuff in the future. You know, this awesome kind of stuff.

Wonder Woman #1 - I have no fondness for Wonder Woman or Brian Azzarello for that matter, but man, that Cliff Chiang art looks too good to resist. And that one picture? With Wonder Woman with the battle axe? That one bumped this up from a "probably not" to a "probably yes."

X-Men: Schism #4 of 5 - I gave up on the X-Books when they started rolling back the mileage on the company car after lending Grant Morrison the keys for the weekend, but this series and the X-Men: Regenesis or whatever just might win me back.

This week's pull list

BATMAN #1
CAPTAIN AMERICA #3
DAREDEVIL #4
THE RED WING #3 (OF 4)
ULTIMATE COMICS HAWKEYE #2 (OF 4)
ULTIMATE COMICS X-MEN #1
WONDER WOMAN #1

My initial excitement for Snyder's Batman has kind of worn off, only because I want on a huge Snyder bender recently and kind of overdid it. You know when you notice a writer's flaws, no matter how minor they are, and even though they aren't inherently bad it just really takes you out of the story? That happened with Swamp Thing #1. I'm just hoping it doesn't happen with Batman #1.

What I'm trying to say is I'm more excited about Wonder Woman #1 than Batman #1.

Every week a new issue of The Red Wing is out is another week I regret not trade waiting. And Spencer's gone very cold for me in recent months (at least six), but I'm going to give Ult X-Men a go, if only because I'm heavily invested in this universe.

I've actually been enjoying Rivera's art so much that I'm kind of not looking forward to Martin's issues, which says a lot about how great these first three issues have been because Marcos Martin is incredible. But yeah, this book, man.

Ditto.

There are a lot of books I'd considering just picking up if this week wasn't so heavy, like Thunderbolts or Supergirl or Legion, but I'm trying to stop spending so much on comics, so maybe not. We'll see.

I wish I could get on Vengeance, but Thunder Agents and Batman Inc. Are returning, and I will die of Kirby withdrawal if I don't stay on OMAC. Also, the old Casey Adventures of Superman issues i'm hunting down take a big chunk.

I really wanted to like Vengeance, and Dragotta's art was fantastic but Casey really let me down with this one. I keep saying I'll give the 2nd issue a go but I always end up picking up something else instead.

RE: The Pull List! - Rurik - 09-21-2011 01:26 AM

Once again I'm getting all the new 52 to review. But I'm looking forward to DMZ, Northlanders, and Hellblazer from Vertigo. (That's right, Oxford comma. You wanna fight about it?)

Avengers #17 - Says "Avengers" on the cover. Might as well have said "Sean, buy this one" on it. Bonus points for Hawkeye gettin' some.
Avengers: The Children's Crusade #7 - I LOVE the Young Avengers, and I HATE how long it has taken for this series to come out. Maybe I'll get to see how it ends by the end of 2014
Captain America #3 - Says "Captain America" on the cover. See above x100
Captain America Corps #4 - Has 5 Captains America! That's 4 more than 1!
Ultimate Hawkeye - I'm not a big Ultimate Universe fan, but I liked the first one alright, and it's only a 4 issue series, so worst case scenario is I waste $12 on a lame Hawkeye story. Worse things have happened (those worse things were called "The Nineties").
