RE: Superman. - Nerd is the Word - 09-09-2011 07:49 PM I enjoyed it. The changes seem to work in Morrisons hands and like he has repeatedly said, this is his take on a social justice Superman. He delivers on that, for me anyway. Also a couple of things are subtly set up in the issue that will become important later. Like the purple tie thief! What I am looking forward to is seeing this Superman grow and develop over time, gaining new powers and improving his skills. The art is a bit iffy in places which is a shame. Overall it is a good book I think. RE: Superman. - othersteve - 09-09-2011 11:17 PM I actually liked it quite a bit. It's weird, because I found the art to just be okay and the writing seemed kind of clunky ("It's Clark Kent, my best friend for the last six months!" - "Oh, Clark Kent, who works for our rival newspaper?" come the demon Etrigan. -- maybe it's intentionally retro) but overall I'm really digging it and am eager to read issue #2. I didn't quite grasp something though -- how did Clark know something was up with the train? RE: Superman. - KingImpulse - 09-09-2011 11:56 PM I cannot stand Rags Morales' take on Jimmy Olsen. That was my only complaint. I got really excited when I noticed the Legion of Superheroes reference, that might have been my favourite bit. RE: Superman. - Palmer - 09-10-2011 03:59 AM What was the Legion reference? RE: Superman. - themonkeybar - 09-10-2011 08:16 AM Am I the only one to think the t-shirt, jeans AND cape is kinda... well... awful? RE: Superman. - othersteve - 09-10-2011 09:15 AM Aw, c'mon, it'll be a boon to budget-minded cosplayers at next year's cons. It's a homemade costume for a "Year One" story. For that purpose, it's fine. RE: Superman. - themonkeybar - 09-10-2011 09:23 AM No, they really need to explain why he decided to add the cape. I'm old and getting grumpy. Apparently, its the blanket he was wrapped in by Jor-El and Lara. RE: Superman. - Josh - 09-11-2011 01:37 PM I dig the year 0 costume more than the "current" one. I hate Superman w/collar. I didn't pick it up at first (well, I got that line was a bit off, but I couldn't quite place it). It seems to me that even though this is a more down to earth Superman to start, Morrison is setting up for some rather crazy stuff down the line.
