I believe it. Mrs. N kept saying how great Superman was and all that, and how great a tenant Clark was (at least, I remember it that way... I don't have it in front of me). Us ladies never get any fanservice that isn't a handsome man in an expensive three-piece suit, whereas you fellas get Emma Frost in all her bikini-clad glory. Where is the justice? My ex-roommate, who is obsessed with Cavill, will be devastated. RE: Superman. - KingImpulse - 09-16-2011 10:13 PM Hey guys, I've set up a Superman fan tumblr, hopefully posting awesome things related to The Man of Steel, his friends and enemies on a regular basis, so if any of you are on tumblr, I'd appreciate a follow. If you love Superman, you'll hopefully love this page. Heck Yeah! Superman! It's still new with about a week's worth of posts queued up, let me know what you think and any ways I can improve it? RE: Superman. - Name - 09-16-2011 10:45 PM Aw man, that introductory piece is hella great. I hear some people speak about him with such passion, and I want to be able to match that. I've got friends that don't understand how anyone could like Superman, he's uncool, he's too powerful, he's a Super-Stalker to them, and I want to be able to clearly articulate what makes him so great. I really enjoy both your blog and this thread, for many varied reasons. However, relating to this photo ![]() One of the foremost reasons I love Superman, and comics in general. When you need him, Superman (read: comics) are there to give you a big hug and tell you that everything will be ok. Something that I've truly appreciated many times, and very much so recently. RE: Superman. - Thomas Is Awesome - 09-25-2011 02:10 AM I put forth that Curt Swan was so good you didn't see how good he was. He was a draftsman's draftsman. He fooled you with his flawless composition and every day objects. His stuff was so great and non-caricaturized that it felt real. He made a man flying look so natural that you forgot that men can't fly. And that is amazing. RE: Superman. - KingImpulse - 09-30-2011 01:46 AM What are people's thoughts on Superman #1? I liked it, but damn was it wordy. You'd think GEORGE PEREZ of all people would know when to let the art do the talking. "Flying faster than a speeding bullet, the Man of Steel raced past the firey comet" - The panel is of Superman outracing a comet "Tearing off a metal billboard from one of the city's rooftops" - The panel is of Superman ripping a billboard of a rooftop "One large enough to use as a shield" - The panel is of Superman using the billboard as a shield against the comet RE: Superman. - Name - 09-30-2011 01:58 AM So I've been reading the Chronicles collections of the old-school Superman stories(well, just the one collection so far, but I plan to move on to the others) and god DAMN are they much better than I expected from my past experiences with Golden Age comics. Text that describes what we're seeing in the art is probably the thing that makes me the angriest in modern comics. It just really seems like a total failure to understand the medium, and like you said, you'd think an artist like George Perez would know better. |
