I just watched Total Recall. That movie is wonderful and beautiful.

Also watching Batman The Animated Series, I've never seen the Legends Of The Dark Knight episode.

That there sir, sounds like a wonderful evening.

Quick run-down of what I've liked this week:

Three new albums by Real Estate, Veronica Falls & Dum Dum Girls have all been excellent. First two are dreamy garage pop, perfect for cold autumn days, just looking out the window, wishing it was summer. Dum Dum Girls is crunchier and more rockin' and is a good one to help you shake out the doldrums.

Watched Hanna, and that is a fine little action flick. It wears its influences (especially the Bourne movies & Run Lola Run) a little too openly, but it's still well worth your time. And that Chemical Bros. score is just excellent.

Watched the first half of Fast Five last night before falling asleep and is there any other franchise (except Bond) that puts out enjoyable movie after enjoyable movie like these?

Also, read The Complete Essex County again on the plane last weekend and it had me crying in a few places, just a beautiful book and I'd can't recommend it enough (and it's only $15 digitally for 400 pages).

Just finished my first ever grad exam, and am celebrating with Manhattans drunk of of Spiderman's head, Sour Patch Kids, Scott Pilgrim, and Guided By Voices.

Kraven the Hunter would be so jealous right now.

I'm listening to Tuesday's episode of The Best Show on WFMU which you should really be subscribed to if you're not. Three hours of mirth, music and mayhem broadcast from the best damn radio station in New Jersey.
Also enjoying this failed pilot for an Adult Swim show titled Paid Programming from Jon Benjamin and David Cross. So damn funny.

I guess they wanted to air it at 4:30 am, in-between other infomercials, without any signal that it was not a real series of infomercials. Which is brilliant.

Everyone with an iOS device needs to get Zombieville 2 which just came out yesterday and is currently only $0.99! Super fun Halloween shenanigans for under a buck!

So I just finished Attack The Block and I am not entirely sure how I feel about it. It is sort of like The Warriors - but they fight aliens. Its got some really good themes, some enjoyable parts and some of the most daring writing as far as characters that I've seen in a while (from American sci fi films).
Its like gangster samurai Doctor Who but as much as I enjoyed it, it was a bit held back at times like I never got that "fuck yeah epic moment." But it isn't a film that goes for that unreality. I'd watch it another time soon but Netflix has it on crazy demand lists but yeah - give it a shot because I'm pretty sure it will be better than the American remake they are talking about.
