The Next Event Comic

RE: The Next Event Comic
You can't have an Unsupervised Squadron movie without the Evil Ives as the villains. Harvaardvark, Rebel Yale, Cornhellion, Columberjack, Dartboard, Prince Tons, the Brown Criminal Bros. and Penntapus were THE definitive nemeses of those sexy teen scamps.

Once I wrote a comic. http://hv.yourfriendmax.com/

Let's be honest, it's all been downhill since Fishstein put pants on Dracu-Lass.

This is the problem with the industry, right here in a nutshell. You lowbrow oxygen thieves are sitting around pining for all this mainstream crapola, while great indie books like Rabbit In My Bookbag, Rabbit In My Heart, Cheeseboard, Snuggler's Blues and the woefully-underrated first three volumes of Life With Rape-O have never quite made it into your recycled bags at the Portland Literature Co-op.

BECAUSE YOU'VE NEVER EVEN HEARD OF THAT.

Oh come on, sometimes you need a costume change to freshen a character up and Dracu-Lass really needed it since readership dropped when she lost her garlic-sense. Take Sunshine Bandit for instance, would that title consistenly be in the top ten every month if he was still wearing that school bus yellow track suit from the 80s with the matching feather boa? Hell no! Sure it was fun when we were kids but now I want my heroes wearing something cool and modern, like his current costume (the gun-metal grey denim looks bad a$$!) or what Jonathan Jeffies is drawing on the Lethal Leather Legion.

Great to see so many Liquid Macaw fans on this board!!! It's such a 'kick' to know that the character I created has so many fans now!!! I thought he had been forgotten but it turns out not!! I only have the internet at the bus station so this is a pleasant surprise for me.

Back in the seventies when I created 'The Liquidster' as i still call him with 'Friendly' Jack Friend the readers thought he was a 'cheap nut'! But I guess the 'joke' is on them as I hear those early issues of Metaphor Van in which he first 'made the scene' now go for upwards of several thousand dollars!!! I was not allowed any comp copies but still it's great to hear!

Recently I have been writing gardening manuals when I can get work but I'm eager to get back in the 'funnybook game' as they say!!!! So if anyone at the 'Big 8' is reading this - give me a call!! Ha ha! I am sure jack would say the same but he died.

Maybe this Michael Jongrita person could call on an 'old hand' for some advice on 'getting' 'The Liquidster' as we call him in my household! Here is a 'free tip' - Liquid Macaw has no time for the new 'acid jazz' music of today as it is just noise and wails.

"Huggin atcha" to all Macaw fans!! As we used to say in the bear pen!! 8) "smile"!!

Hey, does anyone know when Kirk McGorester's next issue of Garbage Gill: Cesspool Snorkeller is supposed to come out? It's been six months since the last issue in what was supposed to be an ongoing. Now it's a two-issue miniseries? WTH?!! What happened to the McGorester that revived Ignatius Rockwell, Molten Millionaire? the final issue, where Rockwell finally revives his imaginary sidekick Spitball, had me on the edge of tears. That was excellent writing, though the art from "Snarky" Parsifal Stevens was what really brought that adorable semi-fictional sentient loogie to life.

You liked the return of Spitball? I guess it was okay, if you like reading crap. I stopped reading McGorester years ago; he hasn't done anything good since the Extreme version of The Snack Packs. And other than that, what has he written worthwhile? That mini he wrote where Commandant Breakdance was raised in Colombia and became the leader of a drug cartel only to be revealed that it all took place inside a snowglobe inside a crackfic story was interesting, but we all know he stole the idea from Smarkinsdale.

Ever since Zombie Movie: The Graphic Novel was picked up to be made in to a movie when he was part way through scripting issue 2 he's been starting film pitches, excuse me, comics, and then abandoning them once they get a movie deal.

And don't get me started on his "comedy" Help Me Help You Help Mussolini and the sequel Help Me Help You Help Mussolini Help Hitler. UGH.

Quote:It's written by one of the best writers in the biz, Rash Borgnine, so I'll give it more of a chance than I normally do

I can only assume you’re joking or have suffered some kind of blunt force trauma to the head. Rash Borgnine good? LOL! Yeah, it was so totally ‘cool’ and ‘edgy’ how in his run on Guerilla Gorilla he killed off Captain Simian and suddenly turned Princess Silverback from this shy sweet lovable character into Bitch Queen of the Universe. So the girl who was so deathly afraid of King Simba’s rocket lions that she installed electrified bars on the Alpha Zeppelin’s portholes is now the biggest bad ass in the entire Inverse Jungle? Sure, totally believable. Also Big Chimp & Zee are a gay couple now? I guess that means thirty plus years of continuity in which Big Chimp was dating Sugar Sweetsong was just, like, a figment of my imagination or something?! I mean, it’s not as if I’m obsessed with this stuff or anything, but c’mon. If they’re going to let their trendy little indie writers retcon away everything good in comics just to draw in some mythical new readers that don’t even exist, why don’t they go ahead and change the title of the book to the Amazing Hipster Cash-in or something? Lame. This is exactly why I haven’t bought a comic book in fifteen years.

RE: The Next Event Comic
Speaking of which, I'm hoping they revive Amazing Hipster Cash-In. Goatee Lad is due for a reimagining. I'm nominating Chip Dip from Gorfus as the writer. If they could get Mark Sparks as an artist, we'd be in business.
