X-Men: Schism
Totally awesome or just very awesome?

Discuss.

Better than Fear Itself, at least.

But that's not hard.

I can't help it if I've got a heavy flow and a wide set vagina!
I'm now on the Tweety!
I'm also tumbling!

RE: X-Men: Schism
I liked the first issue but saw some people bagging it on Twitter today.

It keeps selling out at the LCS.

Those people are wrong people. I haven't enjoyed an X-Men comic this much since Morrison was on the book. Sorry, Joss, but you know it's true.

It's great. I'm not a massive X-Men fan but I'm loving it so far.

I'm still not sure what the hell was up with Prelude to Schism though.

Those "Prelude to…" event books are printed just because Joe Quesada hates trees, I think.

RE: X-Men: Schism
It's made me want to read an X-Men comic for something beside the art, so that's saying something.

I haven't read this week's issue yet, but I really enjoyed the first two.

Besides the incredible art, I think the best thing this book has going for it is that I haven't kept up with X-Men comics at all for years and I feel like I know exactly what is going on in this story and don't feel like I'm missing out on the "meat" of the story because I'm not reading 40 tie-in minis.

I can't imagine what anyone would have to complain about with it so far.

And while I'm thinking about it, can we go ahead and sandbag saying something is good or bad in relation to something else?

Let's just talk about things on their own merit and see how that goes.

Worth a shot?

I'm with you on the accessibility tip, Chris. I've popped into the post-Morrison X-Universe from time to time, but felt really lost, Whedon's pretty great run on Astonishing notwithstanding. And I have read a buttload of X-Men comics. I shouldn't be lost. I am the target audience here.

This series is a real live "jumping on point" for people moderately familiar with the characters. And based on the strength of this series so far, I'm sticking around for Wolverine & the X-Men. It really feels like when I picked up New X-Men #116 all those years ago, my interest piqued by the first Singer X-Men film.
Also, Acuña totally murders it on art this issue. Can't wait for Alan Davis on issue 4! And then, oh … it's that one Kubert for the finale. Well, 4 out of 5 ain't bad.

EXACTLY my sentiment. Also, I haven't felt "cheated" by it. It's also the first (new) X-Men comic I've bought since about the time Greg Land ruined my soul.

Of course, whether or not this will get me buying two X-Men titles on the regular after the mini is done is ... to be seen. I have to save money for all 52 new DC titles, man.*

* Not really at all.

RE: X-Men: Schism
In regards to Schism, is anyone just absolutely loving Generation Hope? I checked it out on a whim and fell in love.

Also, Schism was also my first X-Men title (Not counting Daken and X-23) and I have no issues keeping up whatsoever.
