Official DCnU Discussion Thread

RE: Official DCnU Discussion Thread
I agree that Flashpoint #5 seemed kind of rushed. Everything just seemed kind of jammed in there just so they could get to using the new 52 style and continuity. It wasn't bad, it just was.

As for Justice League #1, it seemed like a good prelude. The art was good, the writing was okay, and watching Batman and GL hate each other in a new universe was fun I guess.

I was like why would Chris Haley of all people like this Superman? The NuDC Justice League's Superman is a character that punches first, instigates fights with Buttman, and may possibly never ask questions later. Unless it is "What Powers Do You Have So I Know What Kind of Fight We Are Gonna Get Into Because I Am All About Punching, Bro!"

I have to imagine that he heard Hal talking about them coming after him (especially the way Hal phrased it) with his super-hearing was why he knocked him out in that "punch first" fashion.

I know that Johns wrote that line for Superman to seem badass, but it came off to me as almost playful, and I can see it being something Superman saying. Especially to a guy in a black bat fetish suit who he's never seen before.

I'm a trade only guy, so I've yet to read any of the Flashpoint or DCnU stuff. I have, however, kept up with the some blogs covering the ordeal. Comicsalliance reports a mysterious omnipotent woman at the end of Flashpoint. Could this be her?[Image: 1171919-avgrsjla_03_05_super.jpg]

No, she's definitely Marvel.

Also, "black Butt fetish suit." Teehee.

No, that's not her.

She's wearing a sort of crimson cloak and her face is also red. She appeared in both Flashpoint #5 and also had a small cameo in Justice League #1. I expect we'll see her in every #1 title over the next month as I bet she's watching to make sure the timeline was fixed properly.

I can't help it if I've got a heavy flow and a wide set vagina!
I'm now on the Tweety!
I'm also tumbling!

JL1 was okay, it served it's purpose. It is in no way an indicator of what's to come, every book that isn't editorial heavy will have it's own feel.

Basically it was exactly what I expected from a new Justice League book by Geoff Johns and Jim Lee. It did exactly what it said on the box. You can't fault it for that.

I thought the Superman line read as playful, like, "How awesome is it to be us? What can you do!"

I also thought nothing happened for the whole issue and that is not cool.

I haven't read the issue (and don't necessarily plan to), but if it's the image Chris posted, it certainly doesn't look like that was feel they were going for. That smirk that Lee draw gives Superman much of an arrogant "I'm better than you" vibe. Take that with a grain of salt though, as I'd sort of made up mind about this comic anyway.

You are correct. That is total arrogance. Let's review.

Superman Punches Hal Jordan knocking him yards away (while also knocking Batman down)
States to Batman "I DON'T HANDLE EASY.'

There is no way that the next line he states to Batman was ever intended to be playful.
