RE: X-Men: Regensis
I read Uncanny last night and I hated it - but I hated it in a good way:
Scott Summers is a dick. I hate him and I hate his team, but the writing and art were so good that I really felt like I was hating the actual characters and not just how they were being written. It was like I was reading a really well-crafted story about the Red Skull or something. They've made it pretty obvious that this team is flirting with the idea of becoming the new Brotherhood, and I think that's interesting. I've always been an Avengers fan, so I was never really into the X-Men to begin with, but when Scott calls his team "Earth's Mightiest Heroes," I wanted to reach inside the book and smack that smug look off of his stupid face. I hate the hell out of this team, but man does this get me excited for X-Sanction! |

RE: X-Men: Regensis
I wasn't disappointed by either of the big launches so far. The big ideas both Gillen and Aaron talked about before leading up to the series, and both were great set-ups for what's going to come (although Uncanny #1 was more of an extension of what Gillen's been doing since the .1 issue, which is really a coda for what his run is and is going to be about). Also, both art teams (at least for the first arcs) sold. I'm usually on board for Bachalo drawing craziness, but Pacheco's work was better than the relatively glossed over house style he used in the .1 issue.
Otherwise, I enjoyed the semi-new direction of New Mutants, and I have enough confidence in DnA to put out a good story (assuming they're given enough autonomy). I still can't grasp the point of adjectiveless X-Men (especially at $4). |

Yeah, the $4 price tag on a lot of these titles is making it really hard for me to try something new. Dylan Todd /// Design Portfolio /// Etsy / Tumblr / Twitter |

RE: X-Men: Regensis
I'm going to keep up with Uncanny and WATX despite myself, and I'll be staying on with New Mutants and Generation Hope (or at least I'm going to buy #13 and see how it goes). Unless Christos Gage wows me with the X-Men Legacy .1 issue, I'm probably going to drop that considering I was only onboard with Legacy because it was Mike Carey's X-Men/Rogue sandbox. I've resigned myself to reading X-Force in trades, which is made all the more difficult since neither publisher feels the need to release trades in a reasonable fashion (Secret Warriors has been finished for several months and the last two trades don't even have release dates as far as I know, it's amazing that the two publishers are floundering relatively). Oh yeah, and staying with X-Factor.

RE: X-Men: Regensis
I really enjoyed Wolvie, but I agree that the $4 price is keeping my wallet in a bit of a worry. I Haven't read Uncanny yet, but Kieron Gillen can take money from me at, more or less, any time. No one has been able to, or rather I haven't asked and no one has tried to, sell me on X-Factor. I hear it's really good, but from the synopses I've read I've never been convinced that it is something I have to be reading.

RE: X-Men: Regensis
Is anyone reading these digitally? I've yet to dip my toes into comixology, but this might be what finally sells me on it...

I read Wolvie on my computer and enjoyed it, but actually liked it a lot more on my phone (scary right?). I felt like I got more into it on the smaller screen, that I had to, and could, get closer to the art there. Though I still prefer physical comics and always will, the one thing that is most attractive is the idea of paying a buck less and waiting a month. I feel like it's a great wait to try something I wouldn't normally pick up. Twitter Tumblr Spotify |

RE: X-Men: Regensis
I liked Uncanny kind of a lot. But then again, I like Scott despite/because of his Scott-ish-ness.
