Spider-Man, a shitload of X-Men, New/Secret/Avengers. With maybe a couple smaller books thrown in that'll get canceled almost immediately.

So … exactly like the DC relaunch that spiked their sales in such a way that the fifth issue of an Aquaman (!) comic is outselling the highest-selling Marvel title?

I'm not saying it would (will?) be good, quality-wise, but … it worked for DC. Which is why, if I were a betting man, I'd toss money on it happening sooner rather than later.

Not saying it won't be good, but DC didn't put out ONLY Batman and Superman books. They put out books for some characters that weren't well-known, needed help in the eyes of a consumer, existed in another universe and were more diverse.

But I just have this feeling that Marvel will only give us Spider-Man, Avengers and X-Men in their relaunch while letting other characters sort of stagnate and die.

Not saying this will happen, but it's just one of those naggy voices in the back of my mind. If Marvel wants to reboot, I will support them 100% (Because I do think that the Marvel universe needs to be a bit more streamlined) and I hope they put out some good books.

Nobody knows what Marvel would do, but it would make sense for them to double- (or triple- or quadruple-, come the demon Etrigan.) down on popular franchises. I mean, DC put out 7 Bat-family books -- Batman, Dark Knight, Detective, Batman & Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Batwing -- (8 if you count Red Hood), 3 Superman books (Action, Superman and Superboy), 3 Justice League books (JL, JLI, JLDark), 2 Green Lantern books, 2 Legion books … And most of those "diverse" books are getting the axe in the coming months. As ,uch as I like those weird, diverse, sideline universe books, by and large, they just don't sell.

And I doubt Marvel would let anything "die." They might tell some dumb stories from time to time, but they need to keep their characters active in order to hold onto their trademarks (which is why every now and then they'll publish a weird miniseries) and since they make the bulk of their money with those characters in other media, they'll publish what they need to in order to hold onto that IP.

So this may be the announcement here? Since it's not branded as "Infinite Comics" probably not. If it is, well, that's underwhelming (though welcome).

Yeah, I could be okay with getting a digital copy bundled with my $4 comic. Not sure if that's it though, or if it's something that's gonna be announced at their SXSW panel on Sunday. That word, "exclusive animation footage" … I hope that's referring to an Ult. Spider-Man preview and not motion comics.

Yeah, I have a feeling their announcement is something "bigger". Also, the cynic in me is pretty sure this means all Marvel comics will be $4 by July and most will be $5 by end of year. Trying to figure out if this means I'll buy more comics from Marvel. It would be nice if they reduced the price on digital comics prior to that date.

You paint a bleak picture, my friend.

I sincerely hope this Infinite Comics thing is a much more newsworthy announcement than this.

Who knows?! Maybe this time will be the time they make a good business decision! Maybe!

RE: Marvel's Infinite Comics
You know what I want? I want a comics app with links to other issues in the reference boxes. Like when Cap punches Batroc and says "this is for Little Billy!" and the little box in the corner of the panel says "See Adventures of Batroc #22 - Smilin' Stan" it would actually be a link to a specific moment in Adventures of Batroc #22.

Also, I want "Adventures of Batroc" to be a real thing.

RE: Marvel's Infinite Comics
So the big announcement is a new, digital-only Nova comic by Mark Waid. Now I'm the biggest Nova fan in the world, but that's a giant let-down. No word about pricing or anything like that.

RE: Marvel's Infinite Comics
Wait, seriously? I expected something bigger, but I can totally get behind Nova written by Waid. Way better than Loeb.

But I suspect that they might just start with Nova and then eventually release more characters/series. Just testing the waters, as it were.

I can't help it if I've got a heavy flow and a wide set vagina!
I'm now on the Tweety!
I'm also tumbling!
