The dude at the start and dude's at the end are Reed Richards and his crew, who were shown planning stuff in Fallout. I thought it was pretty great, I loved that heaps happened but the whole issue was just Nick Fury sitting in his command room, that was great storytelling.

All in all it was a great issue. Didn't blow my mind but I'm ready to love the Ultimate Universe again, instead of just USM.

Well I wish they had just clued me in on who that guy was with a simple "HEY I AM THIS DUDE". While It really aggravated me that I didn't know what the hell was going on, I still had this feeling of "if I understood what was going on this would be a really good comic". I just think it's hurt itself by being WAY too reliant on demanding that I've been keeping up with a universe that (figuratively) nobody has been reading.

I can understand that I have to play catch up in the middle of a series, but on a #1? Come on, man. That is nonsense. You need to allow some leeway for new readers, not punish them. Marvel has been really nice lately about "Here's what's been going on" on page 1, but not in this one. Thanks bros!

I think the art was fantastic, and I am definitely excited about picking up the other new Ultimate Series. Pretty great that there's only 5. Also I am way happier having Hickman as a world builder than Bendis. Whatever you think of Bendis, it was past time to have the man step down.

Finally got my orders in for New 52. Ended up going with Action Comics, Batwoman, Aquaman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Swamp Thing, Stormwatch, All-Star Western and Blue Beetle. Will probably go pick up Static Shock and Justice League once reviews hit.

I was never a monthly issues guy, but Waid's Daredevil is just so good that it is bringing me out to the shop every month.

Amazing Spider-Man #668 - I'm not a huge fan of Slott as a writer, but I'm kind of digging Spider Island. Fingers crossed.

Spider Island: The Deadly Hands of Kung Fu #1 of 3 - I am a total mark for Shang Chi, the Master of Kung Fu.

Ultimate Comics: Hawkeye #1 of 4 - If you'd have told me five years ago I'd be picking up Ultimate titles on the reg, I'd have punched you in the throat. Repeatedly. And yet, here we are.

Uncanny X-Force #14 - My enthusiasm for this title has died down over the last while and the trip to the Age of Apocalypse Universe (of which I know absolutely nothing) hasn't helped matters. But the return of Jerome Opena has me enthused all over again.

I'm just getting Flashpoint 5 and maybe Hickman's Ultimate stuff.

Can anyone recommend any of the DC retroactives? I only got the Justice League International one.

This is a weird week. I was tossing up whether I'd get Ult Hawkeye or not, but fuck it, it's Hickman. I don't know if I'll get Justice League either, I really don't care about that book at all, but it's a big deal I guess? I've never bought a comic I've had no interest in reading so why start here, but at the same time, the whole New DC Universe starts here, so I guess I can make an exception? Ugh, we'll see on the day. Also maybe Secret Avengers.

I'm really just excited about Mad Love, I've never read it and have been dying for it to get reprinted for ages. And it has heaps of Dini/Timm goodness reprinted in there as well. This is a no brainer.
