I don't get why she thought she needed to write about this. The guy isn't a serial killer, he played a card game AND was able to make money off of it. Also: why did Gizmodo publish it?

Yeah, I'm more sympathetic with the guy here too. I mean, it would be one thing if he was just a straight-up mess who was only interested in Magic: The Gathering: bad hygiene, sloppy mess, can only talk about that. However, she says herself that he looked like a "respectable" dude worthy of dating and was getting to know her properly.

The only problem she had was that Magic the Gathering seemed to cross a line into hardcore nerdery that was too much for her to cross, no matter how put-together he was.

Yeah, I think that's a bit more of a rational strike for him. I think I would at least ask her if she was interested in that before buying the tickets, if not make it more of a second or third date.

The article conspicuously doesn't mention if he ran the idea by her or not. Maybe she OK'd the idea but she brought it up that way in the article to make him sound weirder.

Jon should consider himself lucky because I get the feeling that if their relationship went past the second date and last a few months she would be trying to get him to stop playing Magic altogether. Trying to change a person for the better is okay by me. My fiancé made me stop smoking. She would never try to stop me reading comics because she isn't into them.

What a shallow, vapid, ugly woman (I mean ugly personality wise just to clarify). Not only does she show herself to be a complete bitch, I am sure most people outside of nerd circles will completely disagree with her.

Stuff like this always pisses me off because a lot of the time it feels like they are saying "I treated this guy/girl/baby/horse like shit because they are a nerd and that makes it ok."

I hope this woman becomes a lonely cat lady and spends her twilight years thinking she should have given Jon "the magic guy" a better chance because actually he was a nice guy.
