RE: X-Men: Schism
I love that they're using brain slugs. Comics featuring brain slugs > comics lacking brain slugs.

RE: X-Men: Schism
Can we make this the general X-Men thread? Cause I would like to say two things:
1 The X-Force issues with the return to the Age of Apocalypse are WAY BETTER than that tenth anniversary garbage. 2. Cyclops' best suit ever is the X-Factor one with the white x. |

RE: X-Men: Schism
Agree to disagree on that one. I very much dislike the balaclava look for Cyclops.
As long as we're discussing X-books, is anybody reading X-Factor? I read the relaunched PAD joint for a good run a while back, but lost track somewhere in there. Is it worth picking up? because I have to admit, seeing Havok in that teaser image kind of got me interested. Dylan Todd /// Design Portfolio /// Etsy / Tumblr / Twitter |

RE: X-Men: Schism
I think he needs the skull cap. He never looks right with the hair sticking out to me, it just doesn't seem like something scott would do, I think.
And man, X-Factor. I've been neglecting the hell out of that. I've been meaning to get on board with that since the Multiple Man mini ended. |

Despite reading X-Men for as long as I can remember, I have to side with the Morrison looks, but I've never been a huge of costumes in general (outside of a few characters). X-Factor's been one of the most consistent books out there. The last arc has been a little dodgy, but it definitely plays to the old mentality of serialized story telling instead of being shut and closed story arcs. In fact, it's made me give a shit about a character like Shatterstar. Seeing the recent solicitations and the Havok teaser bit has me pretty jazzed about the future of the series. |

I can't believe they're getting me to buy all these X-books. Truly the end is nigh.

RE: X-Men: Schism
is there a cycle of Xbooks where you have a big starter and then you expand to a lot of series and spinoffs and then there is a collapse and the cycle begins again?
Cycleops? Changeling and Socialfist. Check those out. |

RE: X-Men: Schism
I just re-read the three released issues of Schism tonight for tomorrow's strip (spoilers!) and I've got to say I'm even more impressed with Aaron's story so far. I know there's still plenty of time for it to all fall apart, but man, he kept making me think, "Oh, here we go, here comes the obvious thing that's going to happen" and then immediately twisting that convention into something I didn't expect.
And I cannot commend the three-dimensionality of Cyclops and Wolverine's relationship enough. |

RE: X-Men: Schism
i love schism, it's just fantastic. with a lot of mega-events it's implied in the hyperbole how you're supposed to react and feel while reading it, but schism is doing a great job of making you feel uncertain, despite who you'd already 'chosen' to side with.
that being said - those kids. uuugh they take me right out of the story when reading them. they're just awful and cliche and uuugh. especially the girl being ultra-violent and cute at the same time. it's like reading an issue of lenore. and lenore is basically the worst attempt at a comic i've ever seen. also: alan davis art on the next issue? yeah buddy! it's like christmas came early. |
