I keep hearing people talk about how great it is, but then I read that new issue and so much of the dialogue is groan-worthy at best that I think surely I must be reading the wrong Avengers Academy.

I've heard a lot of the same re: Avengers Academy but haven't ever dipped my toe in. Anybody else wanna jump in on this? Is it a good book and did Chris just get an off issue or what?

RE: Avengers Assemble!
For the most part I like Avengers Academy but I have to say that the latest issue was bad. It had, what I thought, was a mis-characterization of one character and some parts where it seemed like it was going to veer into a re-hash of the previous issue.

Yeah, I've heard people talk about Avengers Academy and Gage, but every time I pick up the book, it doesn't strike as living up to the hype. I flipped through the last issue and that scene bothered me and it was one of many.

I'm enjoying what Ellis is doing with Secret Avengers and Remender earned enough good will at this point to think his run will be equal to it. Otherwise I don't have much use for the Avengers right now, especially with Bendis writing. Every time I pop in on Bendis, he just has glitches in the story that bother. I'm not a stickler for continuity at all, but it seems like Bendis doesn't even bother to be aware of other things going on in the Marvel comics.

RE: Avengers Assemble!
I've been enjoying Avengers Academy. It's solid teenage drama, that just suffers from the occasional bit of sloppy colouring (like issue 21, which veered on unprofessional) and lacks something in the art that would make it the best it could possibly be.

That said (and i haven't read issue 22, so I don't know if this improves), the plot that just started with Reptil is... less than interesting
