And the Marvel Cancellation Train keeps on rollin'
Readers scoping out CBR's coming advance look at Marvel Comics February X-Title solicitations will notice one omission: the "X-23" solo title.
CBR News has learned that the monthly comic starring Wolverine's clone daughter has been canceled. Reached for comment, a spokesman for Marvel would not confirm the end of the series but did say that writer Marjorie Liu has more work to come from the House of Ideas. Code: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=35466This fucking sucks! I loved this book! I wonder if Daken is next on the chopping block. House of Ideas? More like House of...Bad Ideas! I can't help it if I've got a heavy flow and a wide set vagina! I'm now on the Tweety! I'm also tumbling! |

RE: And the Marvel Cancellation Train keeps on rollin'
It sucks that good books are getting the chop (and that preview of the Adventures in Babysitting story in X-23 actually made me want to pick up the book for once), but the fact is that Marvel puts out way too many books every month. I wish they would make those cuts in the Avengers/X-Men/Spider-Man franchise hegemony that currently rules the House of (few) Ideas right now and keep the weirder stuff, but Marvel's long been about doing what makes it money, today, and little else. I just hope that some of those creators find safer landing spots elsewhere rather than getting chewed up by the machine that turned Fraction into Bendis2.

RE: And the Marvel Cancellation Train keeps on rollin'
To be fair, the last couple issues of X-23 were kind of bad, anyway. Not cancellation worthy bad, but not great. I do agree they need to cut back on their big franchises, though, to make way for the little guy.
They don't need 4 Avengers books (Academy and Secret are the only good ones, IMO), 6 X-Men books (Personally, I think X-Men should be it's own universe anyway, considering how convoluted it already is), 3 Captain America books (But these are actually good, so they get a pass), Avenging Spider-Man was unnecessary (Just keep ASM), yearly/bi-yearly events and not to mention the shitload of tie-ins/epilogues/spin-offs that fucking Fear Itself has/had. RE: And the Marvel Cancellation Train keeps on rollin'
I thought they were adding X-23 to the Avengers Academy.
That said there were too many books to read even when I got to read everything for free. I'd like to see a core set of 16 Marvel books and then just limited series for other things to let new readers try out series. If a mini does well, take a break from a main book and shift out a core book. Changeling and Socialfist. Check those out. |

Sucks. I always hesitated to pick up X-23 because I like Phil Noto, but whenever I would flip through it the pages just seemed lifeless and lacking energy and everyone has dead eyes. He seems to have a lot more fun posting stuff to tumblr though :]

Which brings Marvel to a total of--oh, wait, that would be NO books fronted by female characters.

There's still Ghost Rider left. Which, looking at sales won't last. And looking at logic, won't star the new Ghost Rider forever.

According to The Beat, Punisher MAX got the axe too, which isn't surprising as the MAX titles never sell well. Unless a crazy high-profile creator comes along, I doubt we'll see any new MAX books in the future.

I'm honestly surprised Deadpool MAX did well. I couldn't get past the first two issues and I actually enjoy Deadpool.
Art and writing were both atrocious. I can't help it if I've got a heavy flow and a wide set vagina! I'm now on the Tweety! I'm also tumbling! |
