Agreed to an extent. McStanner can be... a little angry... at things... like women... and immigrants... and also communists... But nobody can deny that his original run on the Mayhem Master story isn't one of MMtMM's best (the monologue about the Marvelous Murderium alone is a standalone classic)!

I've also enjoyed his work on the Scum City books. Yeah it makes you feel physically dirty to read most of them, but they're McStanner working in his element and in a place where he can't damage any properties but his own. I will acknowledge though that he desperately needs a collaborator to rein in the homophobic conspiracy theories and love letters to cheap bourbon.

Speaking of McStanner, anyone read his run on The Devilish Dastard? Redefined Franco-Prussian historical ninja fiction for years. And this was before he went crazy, or at least before his editor stopped keeping the crazy from coming through.

Also, anyone hear anything about IZD's new line of Space Marauders comics?

McStanner's old stuff was okay, not great. Scum City felt more like over-the-top 'satirical' shock value with very little story. I mean, issue #13 was just The Cleanser killing a bunch of orphans while spouting swear words and racial slur. I kinda get what he's trying to say, but it really was unnecessary.

I never saw his work on The Devilish Dastard as groundbreaking, though. If you want exquisite Franco-Prussian historical ninja fiction, I'd recommend Nick diGario's Eighteen Blades.

Also, I stopped reading IZD after New-Age Captain Warhead. Thanks for shitting all over my childhood, Leverson.
