Is it too early to be cautiously optimistic for a new Galaxy Ranger series? It sure looks like the Ranger to me, too. But, beneath the mask, hard to say if it's Marc Tr1umph wearing the costume, or some as yet to be determined 21st century character donning the Silver Cowboy Hat, Tesseract Holsters, and Anti-Matter Revolvers (dare I hope for Eddie Masters, whose Chrono-Cop character has been deservedly forgotten?). As far as the original Ranger having a role in Eternity Squared, there may be battles being fought in different eras, or, there are any number of vilains that could be involved in a multi-epoch attack on the entire universe (either jumping around in time, or bringing characters from other time periods into the present for some reason): Professor Infinity, Past Master, Time Demon (though he would have to be drastically altered to be the mastermind in this scenario), or even Clock Puncher (though his powers would have to have been considerably enhanced for him to be a real threat, or he'd have to be working for one of the heavier hitters, like Dr. Element, the Pharaoh, or Emperor Solar). While I agree with you for the most part about Galaxy Ranger never quite living up to its potential (though Messenheim's SunWar series was pretty fun), I personally would love to see them bring at least some of the characters from the Virtue League into the present: imagine Commander Friendly or Growing Lady fighting alongside WarpWave or Sinew! |

RE: The Next Event Comic
Hey! Long time lurker first time poster! Just had to get my two cents in on this!
If we don't get a revival of Mr. Mysterious the Mystery Man I may be done with the comics game. Its long past time! They killed him off almost three months ago. Hoborg the Cyber-Bum had a new on-going before his body was even cold (the vodka-pickled living bits I mean, the metal bits are obviously always cold, you know what I mean). Now I've got nothing against the lovable Techno-Tramp, but if he can get a top-billed ressurection story then so can Conundrum Comics. |

I agree about Mr. Mysterious the Mystery Man as long as that misogynistic maniac McStanner is not involved in any way. When I pick up an issue of MMtMM, I want a medieval spy-fiction comic with time-bending magic watches and dragon jetpacks, like in Copstath's run, not 22 pages of a mouthpiece character ranting about how women shouldn't be allowed to leave the house. |

McStanner can be... a little angry... at things... like women... and immigrants... and also communists... But nobody can deny that his original run on the Mayhem Master story isn't one of MMtMM's best (the monologue about the Marvelous Murderium alone is a standalone classic)! I've also enjoyed his work on the Scum City books. Yeah it makes you feel physically dirty to read most of them, but they're McStanner working in his element and in a place where he can't damage any properties but his own. I will acknowledge though that he desperately needs a collaborator to rein in the homophobic conspiracy theories and love letters to cheap bourbon. |

Speaking of McStanner, anyone read his run on The Devilish Dastard? Redefined Franco-Prussian historical ninja fiction for years. And this was before he went crazy, or at least before his editor stopped keeping the crazy from coming through. Also, anyone hear anything about IZD's new line of Space Marauders comics? |

McStanner's old stuff was okay, not great. Scum City felt more like over-the-top 'satirical' shock value with very little story. I mean, issue #13 was just The Cleanser killing a bunch of orphans while spouting swear words and racial slur. I kinda get what he's trying to say, but it really was unnecessary. I never saw his work on The Devilish Dastard as groundbreaking, though. If you want exquisite Franco-Prussian historical ninja fiction, I'd recommend Nick diGario's Eighteen Blades. Also, I stopped reading IZD after New-Age Captain Warhead. Thanks for shitting all over my childhood, Leverson. |

Ever since Holcrest Matadas wrote Suzie Sweetcheeks as a nymphomaniac bulimic chocoholic in his Sedimentary Society run in '83, it seems like all people want to do is corrupt these kids' characters. Damn shame. I remember when Peter Pureheart was the Ineffable Impetus. Now that was an all-ages book. Swashbuckling, romance, and fun science facts for the whole family. |

At the risk of derailing this thread: I've been waiting for someone to continue Adolf Hitler's Iron Dream series - Norman Spinrad raved about it. The written novel was nowhere near as good as the graphic novel.

I'm so glad he got into writing, who knows where a guy like that could have gone without some way to let off steam. |

Um, jeez, guys, way to kill the mood, and quick. One second it's all smiles and jokes about the Crimson Gladiator and the Power Knight, and the next it's forced allusions to the sickest bastard of the 20th century.
