Ditto this.

He is the baby. You gotta love him. He commands it.

Does anyone else remember how truly, deeply depressing the last episode of that show was?

No lie, it traumatized me as a child.

I watched the last episode when I was little at my babysitter's house. I would not stop freaking out. It was probably the worst night of that poor girl's life.

Oh. Great.

Oh. Great.

Okay, let's hear your dino-nightmares, you two.

Mine involve, almost invariably, miniature versions of dinosaurs attacking me. It starts off with me holding them like kittens and then I remember they are evolutionarily-devised apex killers and they end up tearing at my flesh.

Fine.

I was 7 when The Lost World came out, so this was sometime soon after that.

I lived in southern California until I was about 3, and since the end of the movie takes place in San Diego, my terrified child-brain put some things together and created a no-win scenario: T-Rex loose in hometown! And you're home alone at night for some reason! And there’s a storm and the power is out so not only can you not see anything, but you can’t call for help!

So I’m pretty much just running around the house, trying to figure out where the safest place would be. Except there is no safe place, because not only is there a T-Rex coming down the street, there are velociraptors peeking in the windows trying to get in. I guess they hadn’t figured out how to open doors yet, so they went to terrorize some other folks eventually.
Then the T-Rex comes. I was doing that dream perspective thing where I am participating as myself in first person and viewing the dream as a third person… so I was both looking at the T-Rex’s huge legs as he walked down the street to my house and from the street itself. And then it got to my house and started chomping on the root to get in and at some point I decided it was a fantastic idea to go outside and that was pretty much the worst idea ever.

The third movie came out in 2001 (I was 11). This is the one where I was trapped in an airport, but instead of planes there were these spherical teleporty things that the passengers control themselves, so small groups of people could travel together or something. And until they’re started up, the top part of the sphere doesn’t enclose the area, so they’re not exactly good cover if there are dinosaurs trying to eat you. Anyway.

Dinosaurs roaming the city meant that people were trying to evacuate, hence the airport. My mom had gone on ahead and I was left with my sister and dad, and apparently we were the last people in the airport because it was dark as shit and we were the only people there.

I don’t remember a whole lot about this one, other than Haudrosaurids will try to fuck you up, Diplodocus can fit in airports somehow, velociraptors can jump floors with no trouble, and that I do not know how to work teleporty spheres. The last thing I remember is standing at the controls with velociraptors headed straight for me.

That sounds... almost adorable.

Between your killer mini-dinos and my dino-apocalypse (dinapocolypse, if you will) dreams, I'm not sure which of us is the most sane.

RE: Dinosaurs
Since people are sharing dreams, I have a reptilian nightmare I would like to get out in writing. I wake up in the top bunk of the bunk bed I slept in when I was younger, and the floor is covered in snakes. There's no good way to get out, and the level is slowly rising. I eventually climb onto the dresser, but as far as I remember that's as far as I get. I know snakes aren't dinosaurs, but this discussion brought back the memory of this dream, and I thought it might be of interest.

RE: Dinosaurs
My Littlefoot nightmare was that I was in my old house in the upstairs hallway, the hall was lighted brightly and at the other end was this large stuffed Littlefoot and it would just stare at me for hours on end. And then I'd wake up. But I was just stuck there.

Changeling and Socialfist. Check those out.

RE: Dinosaurs
Man, I never had any dinosaur nightmares. I always ended up befriending them instead.

I can't help it if I've got a heavy flow and a wide set vagina!
I'm now on the Tweety!
I'm also tumbling!

RE: Dinosaurs
Hey, look what reddit has! I love the vending machine one.

(Though T-Rex didn't stand completely upright like that. It would've been more of an horizontal stance so as not to put stress on his joints. Jurassic Park did a good job.)
(Someone really needs to stop me, otherwise I'm just going to continue ruining all your childhood dino ideals.)
