But I suspect that they might just start with Nova and then eventually release more characters/series. Just testing the waters, as it were.

It's also drawn by Stuart Immonen, which is cool. Just not mind-blowing.

They also announced this augmented reality app, which looks kind of lame: bit.ly/xcTddt

RE: Marvel's Infinite Comics
That actually looks pretty cool, but disappointed that it's iPad only. If I could do it on my (superior) Android phone, I would be all over that.

I can't help it if I've got a heavy flow and a wide set vagina!
I'm now on the Tweety!
I'm also tumbling!

According to the press lease, it'll be available for Android too. Also, since I have a first gen iPad, it's kind of useless for me. Wonder why the same thing couldn't just be accomplished with a code in-comic?

That said, a free Waid/Immonen Nova comic could be the push I need to pick up AvX #1.

That is … kind of exciting, actually.

I want to be excited, but until I see the page count and whether it'll be on-going I'm wary. For $0.99(or free with purchase of AvX #1) I suspect we're looking at an 8 page back-up.

RE: Marvel's Infinite Comics
"The Marvel ReEvolution is here—and comics will never be the same! The future of comic book publishing was unveiled to the raucous crowd at SXSW Interactive’s ScreenBurn Arcade courtesy of industry superstars Axel Alonso (Editor in Chief, Marvel Comics), Peter Phillips (SVP/GM, Marvel Digital Media) and Jeph Loeb (Head of Marvel Television) during the historic Marvel: House of Ideas panel."

Words I'm not sure Marvel knows the meanings of:
"historic"
"the future"
"never"
"the same"
"superstars"
"the Marvel ReEvolution is a quantum leap into the future of publishing"

Does Dan Buckley think it's 1997?

This whole press release reads like Marvel thinks we all just stumbled out of a cave and the last several years of people buying/reading digital comics (or anything digitally) is completely unknown to us.

RE: Marvel's Infinite Comics
I'm confused as to whether this Nova comic is going to be 'animated' i.e. will have some sort of scroll through interface beyond what comixology already conveys or just a normal digital comic. Also, is this 'digital commentary/behind the scenes thing Marvel's way of rationalizing a $3.99 price tag, or will that bump the price up (and then they will say, 'We'll we're giving you extra digital content, so you need to pay us another dollar') again. And finally, will this work with an iPhone, or will we just have to wait for someone to hack that?

It sounds like it'll be a little more than what Comixology already does with the guided view. Sounds like word balloons will be more animated along with some of the art. I guess we'll have to see it in action to fully judge it, but it sounds like empty bells and whistles to me.

As for the "augmented reality" thing, I suspect it'll work with iPhones/Android phones, but who knows. It just strikes me as being cumbersome, especially as seeing how Double Feature does something similar in a much more user-friendly way.

But yeah, this, along with the free digital copies, sounds like they are justifying their current high prices and most likely a $4.99 price tag by year end.

Maybe I'm being naive or giving people too much credit, but I just can't imagine $4.99 flying. But I basically only buy trades and digital now, so what do I know.

RE: Marvel's Infinite Comics
Here's a video of it in action from SXSW:

It looks...ok? Nothing exceptional. Still, it's Nova by Mark Waid and Stuart Immonen, so I'm going to buy it in some form.
