RE: Smarks Only (Wrestling Thread)
oh hey i went to a Raw house show last night! Some quick match results here.
I was a little late and missed a Brodus Clay match and an Alex Riley match zzzz no big deal. But on time for Truth/Swagger/Miz 3 way for the U.S. belt. They nailed this sick tower of doom. Swagger retains. I think Miz is gonna be kept as a mid-card guy, he's just not as hungry as he was last year. Then it was Jericho vs Kofi. I'm just happy got to see Jericho, it was around this time last year he got punted by Randy and left to do a dance show. Anyway, he came out with the light bright jacket, then cut a looong super heel promo. It was truly a piece of live art; it started slow, then it bubbled until it got under people’s skin. Tipping point was when some nobody tossed a roll of TP at him and he wanted to know who it was, but he through it back, then someone else tried to throw it back but security intercepted. Then Jericho antagonized the “Mexicanos” and everyone chanted “Culeeeerooo” and he was like “Culero must mean something good if you’re chanting it at me!” Haha, I don’t like how he fumbled his return by regressing back to his old heel schtick, but the man knows how to work an arena. Really good match with Kofi, I hope they let them do more matches on TV. Jericho almost tapped Kofi with the Bahstun Crab but then nailed the code breaker. Then Santino & Mason vs. Epico/Primo. I wasn’t that interested so I was walking around trying to find a better view. I found a nice section all to myself but then the assholes in orange blazers shoo’d me away. I thought I was a fucking guest. Cena and Kane did a last man standing match. They each got whipped into the steps and Kane got his head trapped while Cena smacked a chair into it. Then Cena nailed a F-U and they counted to 10, blahh. I really hate gimmick matches. I can barely stand a regular cage match. I guess my tastes have evolved and I’m more into pure wrestling. I remember when WCW was crumbling and they were doing “Scaffold-Human Torch-Graveyard-Mud-Ambulance” matches, it was over kill. Anyway, match of the night was CM Punk v. Dolph in the main event for the title. Jericho was enforcer outside. Lots of posing and stalling at the beginning but then it built up really well and told a compelling story. I hope they do this on TV too. Dolph was great, I guess that sick fall from last week wasn’t so bad for him. Jericho nailed Punk with a code breaker and Dolph nailed the zig zag-whatever and it looked like Dolph might win but Punk had the Anaconda Vice locked in for a while. Then Dolph went for a fame-asser or something but Punk countered and was gonna power bomb but turned it into GTS and won. I think there was some “Chris Brown sucks!” chants. So yeah, it was a very fun and stripped down show. I liked seeing the old mats and guard rail around ringside. I got a cheap nosebleed seat for $32.50 but the height freaked me out so I didn’t bother to find my row and just chilled in a handicap row to myself, haha. Security needs to fuck off, it was like being aboard the Death Star but douches in orange blazers are keeping an eye on you. Yeah, I do not recommend a night out at the Staples Shitter or L.A. in general! Worth it to see a CM Punk and Jericho match tho. Also Willie Mack was sitting in front of me up in the 300’s, indie cred! more pics at my FuckR
