Help me out, folks.
I've got a friend that's a teacher to about 120 12-14 year olds.
She's looking at comics as a way to get them reading more. I need some help with suggestions for quality trades/collections that kids in that age range will enjoy and with nothing that could possibly get her in trouble with parents/the school. Bone and Jeff Smith's Shazam and Thor: The Mighty Avenger were the first things that immediately came to my mind. What do you guys and gals think? |

Gladstone's School for World Conquerors, maybe? I gave it to my brother to read (11) and he really loved it, but I'm not sure if it's appropriate for a classroom environment.
I can't help it if I've got a heavy flow and a wide set vagina! I'm now on the Tweety! I'm also tumbling! |

Marvel Adventures Comics. Spider-man is fantastic with Paul Tobin on it.
Possibly Super Pro KO. Astroboy Supergirl: Cosmic Adventures In The 8th Grade Archie Changeling and Socialfist. Check those out. |

There's those Oz comics Marvel has been publishing for awhile. Skottie Young draws them. They might not appeal to all the kids, though.
Mortal men know me as the Overthinker and all that whatnot. |

I'm surprised no one's recommended the Brave and the Bold comic yet. Also, the Justice League Adventures (the tie-in to the JL cartoon) was fantastic. The first trade is out of print, but the second one is on eBay and amazon for a penny. Great stuff.

RE: Help me out, folks.
I second Astro Boy as a really great all ages comic, along with Akira Toriyama's Sandland

SuperDinosaur. That comic is tailor-made for 12-14 year olds. It reads like a really good Cartoon Network action show, so if they like things like Ben10 (which, of course they do) then it should be right up their alley.

I second this so hard. I can't help it if I've got a heavy flow and a wide set vagina! I'm now on the Tweety! I'm also tumbling! |
