This was the line for the Avengers when I went to go see it the second time today. That's not even half of it. They had to make us go through the back of the theatre because it was so many people.

We were originally going to hit the 1 PM showing, but all of them were sold out so we had to hit the 4:15 PM one.

I can't help it if I've got a heavy flow and a wide set vagina!
I'm now on the Tweety!
I'm also tumbling!

RE: The Avengers
I think the superhero movie gauntlet has been thrown down!

Changeling and Socialfist. Check those out.

RE: The Avengers
I saw it opening night at midnight and again that day at 1:30 in the afternoon. Both times, simply awesome. Even at 2 1/2 it just flies by, utterly entertaining and beautifully tuned.

RE: The Avengers
I wrote up some opinions about the movie over on Tumbr. Short version, I liked it overall but it had some massive flaws that irritated me.

Quote:There are a lot of butts in this movie. I am not complaining.

QFT, both parts.

General thoughts:
-Super fun. I pretty much decided going in to turn off my critic goggles, at least on the first go 'round, and heartily enjoyed it.
-Hulk was fanatastic, and not just in an "exceeded expectations" way! I did not expect that!
-Also Black Widow! Second-favorite iteration of the character, after 1602.
-Cap was kinda disappointing? Well-played and well-written, but--he should be the heart of the Avengers, and he wasn't.
-Kinda neutral on Hawkeye, but I really dug the way they played his friendship with Widow.
-Thor and Iron Man were, of course, charming and hilarious, as they are wont to be.
-Loki got all the best costumes and facial expression. Hiddleston really knows how to work his cartoonishness. Looking forward to seeing him take over
-Narratively unnecessary death of my favorite character = FUCK YOU, JOSS.
-That said, Whedon was pretty restrained here. There's a time and place for his style of self-consciously-mannered snappy dialogue, and I appreciate that he recognized that, for the most part, this ain't it.
-The super-long teaming-up-in-every-possible-combo fight scene of pure cartoony fan service was unabashedly awesome.
-BUTTS EVERYWHERE.

ETA: Yo, admin types, do we have any spoiler tags? Can we get some? Or at least standard style, i.e. white text?

Yeah, but if that was the case, I'd have expected them to address it in one of the post-credits clips. If you're right, and they bring
back in Iron Man 3 or Avengers 2, that still strikes me as sloppy storytelling:
None of which is to say that I don't still hope that character'll be back--they're my hands-down favorite of the set--but story first, yanno?

(Then, again, if "story first" had informed this, they'd never have been killed off in the first place. *grumble*)

Whoa, that would actually be really cool. Dunno if they're a sufficiently prominent character for that to work, though--and this really does smack of Whedon-being-Whedon more than long-term planning.

That would be amazing. Maybe if they can work Ant-Man in though it keep sounding like Ant-Man is more of a spy movie.
