RE: How I Met Your Character
![]() This. Either I or my brother bought it at a 7-11 in North Las Vegas. I was probably 11. It was the dopest thing I had ever read. There's a training sequence that I can still remember if I close my eyes. Cap jumping over these jets that are shooting fire at him. Doooope. RE: How I Met Your Character
Someone gave me an issue of a Spanish edition of Captain America. I remember Cap was wearing a black costume, which was confusing because he had a blue one in the cover. Also his sidekick was a guy called Nomad, but he was a full grown adult! Adult sidekicks! Crazy stuff.
![]() Oh, this was a flip book with a Thor story on the other side, but the only thing I remember about it is that at one point Thor flies right next to Daredevil without seeing each other, and the narration described them like "two ships in the fog". I literally don't remember anything else about the comic. |

RE: How I Met Your Character
Sadly.
![]() I was maybe 7 years old. There was a huge cardboard standout with the first issues of all of the Heroes Reborn books at the comic shop my mom would take me to sometimes. I vaguely recognized these characters from an issue of X-Men that I had and knew that they were other Marvel characters. All of the new number ones seemed like the perfect place to start reading. that Cap cover spoke to me. The dynamic figure against a stark white cover was the coolest thing I had ever seen in my entire life. I almost wore that issue out flipping through it, not necessarily reading it, but just taking it all in. That issue primed me for Cap, and his appearance on the Spider-Man cartoon cemented his place in my childhood top tier. |

RE: How I Met Your Character
My first exposure to Cap was the 70s tv movies rerun on saturday afternoon local tv. It took me a long time to realize he wasn't the lamest sack of lame that ever lamed after that.
Also, my first exposure to Dr Strange was the crappy 70s tv movie as well. That really dull one where every one looked like a 70s porn star. |

RE: How I Met Your Character
This thread seems pretty dead so lets do a new character.
![]() My first encounter with Spider-man has to be the 90s cartoon. Check out my podcast, Bat Issues. It's like Tom vs, but about Batman. |

RE: How I Met Your Character
90's cartoon for me as well, but in comic form...
![]() This issue literally had everything. Spidey and his best pals: The Symbiotes, JJJ being kidnapped and terrified, a guest appearance by the FF and a bitchin' rock concert inside Madison Square Garden. |

RE: How I Met Your Character
Spider-Man and I have been friends since I was about 2 or 3, when I would sit in front of the TV and watch the re-runs of the 1960s Spider-Man.

RE: How I Met Your Character
I know I saw the Electric Company shorts, the 60's cartoon and Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends (and had a plastic finger puppet as a wee one), but my first comics experience with Ol' Webhead was probably this, again, from 7-11:

RE: How I Met Your Character
I was introduced to Spider-Man in the same way I was introduced to Daredevil.
It was a comic about personal safety. I don't think it was the one with Power Pack, but it very well may have been, honestly. Didn't know anything about him before that, for some reason. Wasn't really a Marvel reader as a kid, except for X-Men. |
