RE: How I Met Your Character
I remember knowing about Superman for a long time when I was a kid, but this is one of my earliest memories of him:

I guess my first time seeing him was through the Christopher Reeves movies, but I definitely remember gathering around the TV with my family to watch this show (all of which are on Netflix Watch Instantly).

Yeah, my family was the same way about Lois and Clark. I also remember growing up and giving speeches about Louis and Clark and getting questions about why Superman went back in time.

Changeling and Socialfist. Check those out.

What about Swamp Thing?

My first encounter with Swampy was the last issue of the American Gothic Saga (the crossover with Crisis). I was 10 years old and it totally blew my mind. It was also my introduction to other great characters as Cain and Abel, Zatanna, Etrigan and Constantine. And Alan Moore's work in general.

Here, I made a picture of some of it:

I'm sure I watched the movies or the cartoons or what have you, but I think my earliest memory of Superman was this:

Swamp Thing? Hmmm... Getting the first TP of Moore's run at the library.

RE: How I Met Your Character
I hate to say that my first encounter with Swamp Thing was the movie.

In fact, I had no idea it was a comic until years later.

RE: How I Met Your Character
Swamp Thing was definitely the cartoon. I actually had the first episode on tape (I had a shockingly high number of first episode videos that came with toys but never had any of the toys...stuff like Computer Warriors and Shadow Strikers).

My first brush with Swamp Thing was the Wes Craven movie. And can I just say that the theme for the cartoon is probably the dumbest/most awesome thing ever.

RE: How I Met Your Character
I first read about Swamp Thing in a UK reprint of a Batman story which he appeared in, probably in the early 90s. I didn't know who he was and forgot all about him until a friend showed me Moore's Swamp Thing years later. It was actually a 2 part Batman story and I never read the second part haha

RE: How I Met Your Character
I first came across Swamp Thing in a Wizard Magazine article in the mid-late 90s.

I wish I was joking.
