RE: How I Met Your Character
SILVER SURFER!

When i was a kid, i ended up with some random issue of the Hulk from the seventies where Surfer observes him and CURES HIM! Then through some convoluted means by the end of the issue he turns him back into the Hulk after he spends the issue thinking himself free of the curse. So for many years I thought the Surfer was just some asshole alien who showed up to be a jerk to the Hulk.

RE: How I Met Your Character
This thread was pretty cool. Wonder why it died.

Anyway, I encountered Silver Surfer first up through his 90s cartoon, and don't think I came across him again until Panini UK's "silver surfer masterworks" trade, that had the galactus trilogy, some assorted stuff from his first ongoing, and a moebius story I can't recall clearly.

So a crash course on the character, basically.

And in the spirit of wanting this thread to live again, how did all of you wonderful people encounter that most over-exposed of hairy short guys, Wolverine?

EDIT: whoops, forgot to say how *I* encountered Wolvie. I thought it was the 90s cartoon, but in the time it took to realise I didn't write it I remembered that I had a black & white reprint of the Dark Phoenix saga, which I used as a colouring book. I can't recall how old I was, but apparently Wolverine is red with brown hair. This is now canon

RE: How I Met Your Character
I got to know Wolverine through the 90's X-men cartoon and one of the Sega Genesis video games. I didn't like him though until X-men Evolution.

Changeling and Socialfist. Check those out.

RE: How I Met Your Character
Probably through the cartoons, though I did(and still do) have a Marvel poster my dad gave me growing up, which might have been part of it.

RE: How I Met Your Character
I first met Wolverine through a choose your own adventure style game book that I picked up when I was about 12. I didn't really like him much and only really learnt more about the character and the rest of the X-men through the 90s cartoon. (Except for Iceman, I knew Iceman from the Spidey and Friends cartoon in the 80s and loved him)

RE: How I Met Your Character
Age of Apocalypse was my jumping-on point for X-Men in general, although I suppose he was officially Weapon X in that.
