RE: Ideal Avengers Team?
Here's what I'm saying.
My opinion, if all things were equal, and whatnot: Major Mapleleaf. The dude is definitely due. Part of Lobdell's very under-appreciated Alpha run, Mape is the second string quarterback of this team's leadership. He'll step up when he's ready. Plus, he's fun to write, and is an automatic link to Canada for political reasons. Battlestar. I could see him in the Cap position. He's seen some things, and honestly, I'm going off of what team structure would be better to write, and members to interact with. That being said, we haven't seen a lot of Battlestar as in-depth as, say, U.S.Agent. So, this would be a chance. (Plus, he would interact well with 'Leaf.) Prince of Orphans. It was a dead heat between him and Dog Brother #1, but John Aman lends himself to an "Elder Statesman" figure, as well as a combat trainer if need be. He's not necessarily in a leadership role, but he's the good back-up you need on a strong decision. Cloud 9. Because, well, I can. She would be a contrast to John Aman, as well as a very usable support member. I'd like to see her interactions with the other members, because I believe it would be interesting. She's also a ranged threat (one of the best shots in the Initiative, when called upon) on top of having a very diverse power set. Black Knight. Again, because I can. Dane is basically your Hawkeye, but with a sword that makes him want to kill people. John Aman would have things to talk to him about, and his interactions with Cloud 9 would also be fun to do. Armadillo. Armadillo is the heavy hitter, also the reformed criminal. It seems a lot of Avengers history involves using reformed criminals, and, well, Armadillo brings a lot on the power side. His armor is pretty indestructible, his claws cut through basically anything. He's also got a very good Ben Grimm writing angle for public appearances and trying to relate to everyone else. Rounding out the team is Jennifer Kale. The non-zombie version of Jennifer Kale. She was sought as a replacement for Stephen Strange's Sorcerer Supreme post, but overlooked because it was "too hard to find her". At any rate, she is a VERY adept magic user and should serve well on that angle. Wild Cards: Darkhawk. Red 9. Writer: Give me Parker or Sean McKeever. Art: Davide Gianfleece or Javier Pulido. Inks by Chris Stevens of Udon. Again, full of favoritism, but it's my team. Heh. |
