Alex Toth, Genius Isolated
I don't hear anyone talking about this book on Twitter or otherwise. Am I really the only one who has picked up this tome?

I mean, I can understand why not, because I've read only a couple chapters in and I wanted to give up drawing comics forever for a month.

But no, this book is incredible! It's huge so all the art is big so you can just pore over it. They reprint things like original artwork "to paper" where you are looking at all most near reproduction of the actual page that Alex worked on, and all his old comics are reprinted with the classic dot matrix stuff.

A person could lose his mind reading about Alex and seeing these comics.

I haven't picked this up, because I'm going through a temporary bout of the poors, but I'd just like to point out that this got a dude fired from the AV Club. good writer, too.

What happened there?

When I was living in Greensboro, the guy who owned the comic store I went to was apparently pretty decent friends with the Toth family and would show me some pretty rare comics of Toth's (which he pointed out weren't really for sale). I didn't even know this book existed.

A freelancer for The Onion made up a review 8 months prior to publication. Here's Comics Alliance's take.

The book is definitely on my "to buy" list, maybe once this trade-in credit comes in...hmmmmmm

I really want to get it, but can't plunk down the cash for it just yet. Mega sad face.
